An FIR has been lodged by the police into the incident in which a swarm of bees invaded the venue of BSP maharally in Lucknow on Monday, police said on Thursday.
A swarm of bees had appeared over Ramabai Ambedkar ground during BSP's maharally when Chief Minister Mayawati was addressing party workers.
After the incident, the BSP alleged that appearance of the bees at the rally ground was a conspiracy hatched by the opponents of the ruling party following which the state government ordered an inquiry.
The inquiry is being carried out by Lucknow Deputy Inspector General of Police Rajiv Krishna.
Preliminary inquiry has indicated that some persons intentionally lit fire to cause a smoke and disturb the bees at nearby Ambedkar University to spoil the rally, officials said.
According to experts, the bees that swarmed the rally ground were bigger in size, normally found in forest areas.
Addressing party workers, Mayawati had said on Wednesday it was a conspiracy to create a stampede at the ground and make the rally a flop.

I honestly felt this was hysterical. I mean after all those 1000 rupee garlands and all the pompous show, it comes down to an FIR against bees!
And to think that this lady refused to aid natural disaster victims stating that her "government" can only offer sympathy because it had no relief fund money. Wonder where all those garlands and 200 crores came from
Not to mention the alleged 1000 crore birthday bash and an alleged death of an engineer because he refused to contribute towards the "noble cause"
